Pool repairs get costly fast. The key? Spotting small issues before they shut things down. Here’s what to look for with your pump, filter, and heater systems.

Pump Troubles

  • Loud or screeching noises indicate bearing failure

  • Low flow rate or bubbles may point to suction-side leaks

  • Motor that won’t turn on could signal capacitor or wiring issues

Filter Red Flags

  • Pressure gauge staying high = dirty filter or internal damage

  • Short filter cycles = sand/cartridge breakdown

  • Visible tears in cartridges or DE grids

Heater Issues

  • Heater turns on but doesn’t heat = thermostat or ignition failure

  • Soot buildup around unit = burner or vent problem

  • Water flow errors often relate to bypass valve

What to Do

  • Turn off power to affected equipment

  • Note error messages if present

  • Call a licensed technician for diagnostics

Think your system’s failing? Schedule an inspection and avoid a shutdown.
